PLAYER SPOTLIGHT - for the week of feb. 24-mar 1
lydia, 09g bailey
Lydia has had a great start to the season by scoring 2 goals and 1 assist in two games so far. Lydia is a very coachable player: she has a great attitude, is respectful, listens, is always willing to learn, and works incredibly hard in every game and practice. The hard work is definitely showing on the field. If Lydia is asked to keep working on a skill, control or finishing, she will come back the following week stronger and better. She is very composed and calm under pressure when receiving the ball. In Saturday's game she played multiple positions and played with heart and passion. Lydia is always selfless and will do whatever she needs to do for the team.
rahul, 10b sansom
Rahul is a cornerstone in the defensive unit of the 10B Sansom team. He plays hard every week and puts the teams needs before himself. He asks questions because he wants to learn and he is always looking for ways to improve his game. Not only that, but he respects his teammates, referees, coaches and parents at all times. He is consistently the defensive man of the match for his performance and effort.
london, 08g williams
London showed amazing persistence and determination this week. While not every pass or shot may have been perfect, London would continue to give everything she had and continued to work hard to create opportunities. London played with heart the whole game. At times she may have needed a break herself, but she dug deep and pushed through for her team. This desire spread through the whole team, as others followed her actions. While relatively new to the team, London doesn’t let that stop her from being vocal and supporting her team. She leads with both encouraging words for her teammates, as well as her actions on the field.
ashwin, 08b williams
Ashwin had a great weekend on the game fields helping his team to victories both Saturday and Sunday. His willingness to play in supporting roles in both the attack and defense is a value that is hard to fully appreciate. The team relies not only on his skill but his will to win and his intelligence in the game at all levels. This photo sums up the kind of player Ashwin is, always encouraging his teammates. He is the kind of player every team and coach could want.
