PLAYER SPOTLIGHT - for the week of feb. 17-23
alexa, 12g davies
Alexa always listens really well and watches coaching demonstrations to ensure she is clear on what we are focusing on as a team. In practice this week and the game on Sunday, she engaged really well in team discussions & gave 100% effort. Alexa performed her role really well with great focus and composure as well as stepping up for the team to play as goalkeeper. She displayed great determination and a positive attitude to develop her game as she does every week. She always plays the game with a smile on her face!
graham, 11b stricker
Graham is a joy to coach because he always works hard in every practice. He remains coachable every practice and every game. He continues to grow as a player because of his work ethic and drive. He was very versatile in the game last weekend playing winger, center midfielder and defender. He had 2 goals but remained humble in a very successful game. He is a great kid and hard working player!
mia, 09g bailey
Mia played awesome in Saturday's game, she was very composed on the ball and found some great passes in the midfield position. Mia is attacking one minute and defending the next, and she has relentless energy. Mia played a big part in the build up to our goal to win 1-0 by being so composed and relaxed on the ball, finding passes between the defenders. She has a great attitude on the field and never complains. She works so hard for the team, even if one of our players loses the ball, she is the first person to react and sprints back to support the defense. Mia is a leader in many ways, her hard work shows leadership to the other players and sets a high tempo of the game straight away.
travis, 06b williams
Travis has been working on his 1v1 defending, trying to improve his timing and not to rush to try and win the ball. In this past Saturday’s game he was facing a breakaway against 2 attackers in the second half of our game. Despite already being a few goals down, he could have easily given up the goal, he focused on the steps of being patient and dropping with the player, forcing him wide until he won the ball. Travis never drops his head and continues to be vocal in support of his teammates, pushing them to continue until the very end. Even when there are times other players test his mental strength, he maintains his composure and remains a positive voice for his team and club. Travis is always selfless and will do whatever he needs to do for the team.
