PLAYER SPOTLIGHT - for the week of april 15-april 21
oliver, 12b oland
Oliver has been working constantly on his weekly homework, as well as practicing with his brother and dad. He is always positive and gives one hundred percent effort every time he plays, whether practice or games. His development and ball mastery has exploded as a result of all his hard work. Oliver is a joy to coach.
valeria, 09g sansom
In addition to being a consistent goal scorer and play-maker, Valeria is also very much a team player with her selfless displays on the field. This is consistent with her commitment to online practice and practicing on her own accord. Her "never give-up" attitude has seen her lead the team in our homework activities, pushing harder and harder to reach that elusive 1000 touches in 30 minute mark! Valeria consistently likes to check in with her teammates and is always looking for ways to involve every member of the team in whatever way possible.
brendan, 05b williams red
Brendan has been with the 05B group only a few weeks now after guesting in a scrimmage for the 05B over winter break. Coach Greg noticed he was special right away. Late in this particular match and with only a few minutes to play, he kept making deep recovery runs from his attacking position. He was getting to everything and would not allow penetration from the opponent's attack. When coach asked him after the scrimmage why he was doing that he said, “I wasn’t going to let us lose coach!” Brendan plays with heart and passion and intensity, and he has an amazing commitment to the game and to his team.
nicolas, 08b shabout
Nic works very hard in every practice and while doing his online drills. He pushes himself and does his best every time! He is an excellent teammate with a big heart. Nic has a great attitude and always has a smile on his face. He gives everything for the team and is willing to play in any position to help. His commitment and attitude are outstanding!!
kyle, 05b williams black
Kyle has been literally perfect in getting his homework assignments completed and turned in. The content of the activities has been very challenging, and he has handled the physical as well as the mental aspects of the challenges so well. Having players like Kyle make the job so fulfilling for a coach. He is one of the most intelligent and coachable players. The 05B Black team is very fortunate to have him.
